•WEBEREI• PRESENTS MAISON WEBEREI IN DANCE MACABRE
WOVEN FLYER FOR AN EXHIBITION IN BERLIN
“Maison Weberei in Dance Macabre” was an installation of 13 Woven Tapestries depicting a modern take of the artistic genre of the allegory of the Late Middle Ages on the universality of death: no matter one's station in life, the Dance Macabre unites all.
The over-sized woven art pieces (ca. 320 by 320cm) show different archetypes of our modern day to day life sashayed to their demise by a troupe of dancing skeletons, the personification of death.
The thirteen tapestries where brought to life by Simón Sepúlvedas naive graphical style were then interpreted by Noël Saavedra as woven objects and concocted in Germany.
Conceived as one, large ongoing image, the following archetypes find death through dance:
THE ARTIST
THE MASCULINITY
THE IMMIGRANT
THE NATURE
THE POLITICS
THE MOTHER
THE DEALER
THE WEAVER
THE LAUGHS
THE EGO
THE UNIVERSE
THE TIME
